Homemade Bread
This recipe will yield 2 standard loaves of bread half the quantities to make just 1 loaf it will keep for 1 week when wrapped in cling film
Ingredients
6 cups flour
2 cups sugar
4 sachets of yeast
2.5 cups of warm water
Method
In a mixing bowl add flour sugar yeast make a well
Slowly add water and combine
The mixture should be a wet mix
Use half a cup of flour spread on the bench and put the dough mix onto the flour
Lightly kneed the dough into the flour on the bench less work is needed with this recipe due to the yeast and sugar content so as soon as the dough is easily picked up off the bench stop kneading the dough, half the mix and place into oiled loaf tins
The dough needs to double in size before baking so leave in a warm spot to rise for at least 1 hour
When dough is ready to bake turn oven onto fan bake and set at 180 degrees and cook for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown firm to the touch and a knife comes out clean from the bread
Leave to rest for 5 minutes then take a damp tea towel and immediately wrap the bread into the towel this stops the bread from forming a hard crust which can make it difficult to cut later when serving
Once bread is cool keep wrapped in cling film.
TIP; to help remove the sticky dough from your bench it's better to dust the residue with flour and rub it this will lift the dough away from the bench better than taking a wet dish cloth to the sticky mess
